Acceptance declaration (Domestic students)
I declare that:
- If I am under 18 years of age, I acknowledge and agree that I have the consent of my parent or guardian to enrol at the University and understand my HECS-HELP obligations.
- I understand that my acceptance is not valid or complete until I satisfy any conditions outlined in my Offer of Admission. I understand these conditions must be satisfied prior to the commencement of my first session of study, including the submission of any additional documentation required by Charles Sturt University.
- I agree to comply with and understand that I will be bound by the statutes, by-laws, rules, regulations, policies and procedures and any other requirements of Charles Sturt University.This includes, but is not limited to, the University’s Enrolment and fees policy and Intellectual property policy.
- I understand that the tuition and non-tuition fees quoted in offer letters are indicative fees only and fees are subject to change each year in line with the University’s fee policies, and that if I do not pay or arrange deferment of my tuition fees by the census date of each teaching period in which I am enrolled, Student Administration will cancel my enrolment in all subjects for the current teaching period and may cancel my enrolment in the course. - I acknowledge that the provision of false or misleading information to Charles Sturt University may result in the withdrawal of this Offer of Admission and/or the cancellation of my enrolment or immediate expulsion from Charles Sturt University in accordance with its rules and policies.
- I understand that Charles Sturt University reserves the right to withdraw an offer of admission or cancel a student’s enrolment in accordance with its rules and policies.
- I understand that this written agreement, and the right to make complaints and seek appeals of decisions and action under various processes does not affect my rights to take action under the Australian Consumer Law if the Australian Consumer Law applies.
- I understand that the University offers complaints and appeal processes for all actions undertaken in regards to my enrolment through the University Ombudsman and I am aware of the Complaints Management Policy and its related Procedure. I further understand that:
- a complaint is any type of problem, concern or grievance about conduct or services, including quality of service/product, failure to provide information and competence or conduct of staff (other than those which are to be or have been addressed at a point of origin), and would include problems, concerns or grievances I have about my studies, student life, the University or the University environment;
- the Complaints Management Policy explains how the University manages complaints from students, staff and members of the public and ensures that complaints management processes are compliant with the relevant standards and best practice guidelines;
- in most cases problems can be simply and quickly resolved by raising them informally at a local level when they arise with the person or area responsible;
- if I want to lodge a formal complaint the instructions for doing so and other information I may need to know (including contact details for the advocacy and support team who provide free advocacy services and support for students studying online and on campus) may be found within our current students website; and
- if I am still not satisfied with how my complaint has been handled, I can progress my complaint to the NSW Ombudsman.
- I accept that if I am undertaking this course in order to obtain professional accreditation or membership of an industry association, it is my responsibility to contact my local accrediting body and/or employer to confirm that this course meets their requirements.
- I understand that my subject enrolments must follow the recommended course enrolment pattern as detailed in the Charles Sturt University Handbook, and that it is my responsibility to ensure that the subjects I add to my enrolment for each session conform to the course requirements.
- I understand that in order to continue to receive Commonwealth Assistance (including Commonwealth Supported Places (CSP) and HELP loans) I must maintain a reasonable completion rate, enrol in an appropriate study load and only enrol in subjects within my course I believe I can successfully complete.
- Where credit for prior learning has been granted, I acknowledge and accept the credit that has been awarded and outlined, if any, in the Offer of Admission documentation.
- I acknowledge that I must have access to an internet connected computer to communicate with Charles Sturt University, access online study material and/or complete studies online.
- I must supply and maintain a valid individual email address, and consent to receiving Charles Sturt University communications electronically via my supplied email address and agree to check my supplied email address regularly including during University breaks or leave periods.
- I understand that as part of Charles Sturt University’s commitment to maintain academic integrity, Charles Sturt University utilises online plagiarism tools such as “Turnitin”. During my enrolment, I consent to Charles Sturt University submitting my work to such online tools providing academic integrity solutions.
- I understand that I am required to complete the compulsory Academic Integrity subject and that my grades and therefore my completion in the course may be withheld if I fail to meet the satisfactory completion requirements for the Academic Integrity subject.
- I understand that if I am enrolling as an onshore student studying either on-campus or online, I am required to complete the compulsory Child Sex Abuse and Protection Education (CSAPE) subject and that my grades and therefore my completion in the course may be withheld if I fail to meet the satisfactory completion requirements for the CSAPE subject.
- I understand that the fee types and amounts applicable to this course are subject to change and may have varied between the time of this Offer of Admission and the time of my enrolment. Information about current fee rates are published on the Charles Sturt University fees website.
- If I am accepting a Commonwealth Supported Place (CSP) and/or seeking to defer payment of my tuition fees via HELP (HECS-HELP or FEE-HELP), then I declare that I will reside within Australia for the entire duration of this course to maintain my eligibility, unless I am an Australian citizen.
- If I am an Australian citizen and accepting a Commonwealth Supported Place (CSP) and/or seeking to defer payment of my tuition fees via HELP (HECS-HELP or FEE-HELP), then I declare that I will complete at least one subject for this course within Australia to maintain my eligibility.
- I understand and will comply with the University's requirements around COVID-19.

The personal and health information that you provide to Charles Sturt University (“the University”) is managed in accordance with the University's Privacy Management Plan that demonstrates the University’s commitment to meeting its obligations under the privacy legislations including the Privacy and Personal Information Protection Act 1998 (NSW), the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Health records and Information Privacy Act 2002 (NSW). 1. How we collect your information

The University collects your information directly from you when you submit information in person, in hard copy, electronically or by telephone. Your information may be collected on application forms, web forms, online event registration forms, and in materials you submit to the University as part of your studies (e.g. portfolios, assessment materials).

Where appropriate, the University collects student information from third parties. The types of third parties may include tertiary admission and testing centres, secondary schools, other tertiary institutions, government agencies, referees, clinical/professional placement supervisors, supervisors of experiential learning, employment agencies, professional accreditation and registration bodies, and contracted service providers.

Digital tools and resources
Your information may be collected when you submit forms via the website or when you use digital tools and resources. These may be hosted internally by the University or hosted externally by a third-party provider such as Studiosity. You may also, as part of your unit enrolment, have access to digital learning resources owned and managed by third parties, in which case the provider will share information about your access to those resources and your assessment outcomes with the University.
Your information may also be collected when the University uses its digital tools and resources. For example, your voice and image may be collected during recording of lectures or streaming of online tutorials. CCTV cameras around the University’s campuses may also capture your image.
Learning analytics
Your access to digital tools and resources creates information about you that the University collects and uses to analyse your learning patterns. The purpose of learning analytics is to allow the University to understand how individuals learn and how you in particular learn, to provide students with a more personalised learning experience, and to develop teaching and learning environments that enhance the student journey.
2. How we use your personal information
The University will use your information to manage and administer all aspects of your progression through your chosen course of study, your participation in the University community, and your access to and use of the University’s business and support structures. The following is a non-exhaustive list of the way your information may be used.

Your information is used to:
- manage enrolment and undertake selection into the University’s courses.
- manage studies and progression including enrolling / re-enrolling you in the University’s courses and units.
- determine your eligibility for scholarships, grants, and similar awards.
- provide support, student services and housing where applicable.
- provide access and support from Division of Information Technology, and Division of Library Services.
- facilitate your study at the University and your completion of course requirements.
- facilitate your participation in academic exchanges, integrated workplace learning placements and experiences, and volunteer and / or paid opportunities.

- manage plagiarism detection, using the Turnitin plagiarism detection service and / or other AI detection tools.
- deal with misconduct and complaints.
- facilitate your graduation, including publishing of your student name, date of graduation, and award obtained in the graduation booklet, which is a public document. Webcasts of the graduation ceremonies, which include images and voices of individuals, are made publicly available on the same basis.
- process changes to your status at the University, including leaves of absence, exclusion, and withdrawal.
- facilitate alumni affiliation or to provide you with any benefit as a student / alumni.

- providers of educational resources and services, to enable you to access course-related materials and activities, and to take advantage of services provided. e.g. Studiosity.
- third parties hosting and administering University materials in a Learning Management System (LMS) on an electronic platform. e.g.Blackboard / Interact2 / Brightspace.
- providers of plagiarism detection services, currently Turnitin.
- external assessors, where disclosure of your identity is necessary to protect the integrity of the assessment process.
- the donor of your scholarship or sponsor of your enrolment.
- your parent or guardian if you are under 18 years of age.
- Tertiary Admission Centres across Australia.

- discipline-based student associations.
- its wholly owned entities where you are using their services. (For example, to Residence Life and Charles Sturt Campus Services for students living in on-campus accommodation and utilising campus resources.)

- its legal and other professional advisors as required.

The University discloses student information to accreditation and registration bodies relevant to your program of study to verify your qualifications, professional registration and conduct, and the accreditation of your course.

The University may disclose student information to the extent necessary to enable us to maintain our accreditation as a university and the registration of our courses with professional regulatory bodies.
The University may also disclose student information to agencies and organisations undertaking quality assurance and planning activities. These include government departments and agencies, the Tertiary Education Quality Standards Authority and Universities Australia.

The University may disclose your information where permitted and / or required by law. We are permitted to disclose personal information to assist law enforcement agencies, to manage a serious and imminent risk to any individual or where there is a risk to public health and safety. Additional information on permitted disclosures is set out in the Privacy and Personal Information Protection Act 1998 (NSW) (PPIP Act) at IPP11, Health Records and Information Privacy Act 2002 (NSW) (HRIP Act) at HPP11 and HPP14 and the University’s Privacy Management Plan.

To persons or organisations external to the University chevron_right
Student information collected by the University may be disclosed to any organisation or provider external to the University who are contractually bound by the University’s privacy and security requirements, including third party technology service providers engaged by the University, where required for the purposes described above, and to provide additional services and support including hosting, infrastructure, software, databases, and backup. This includes but is not limited to third parties holding and/or processing the University’s data on their systems on behalf of the University which may involve the transmission and storage of personal information outside of Australia.
4. Consequences of not providing information when requested
The University will only ask you to provide information that it needs. If you choose not to provide information when requested then it may not be possible for you to be admitted to or enrolled in the University or, if enrolled, you may not be able to access the full range of opportunities, facilities and services available to a member of the University community.
5. Additional privacy statement for policing students
This statement is for students studying the University Certificate in Workforce Essentials (UCWE) or the Associate Degree in Policing Practice (ADPP).
Charles Sturt University (the University) and the NSW Police Force are both subject to the Privacy and Personal Information Protection Act 1998 (NSW) (the Act). This notice is designed to satisfy section 10 of the Act that requires the University to tell potential and current participants in the University Certificate in Workforce Essentials (UCWE) or the Associate Degree in Policing Practice (ADPP) that their personal and course related information will be shared with (disclosed to) the NSW Police Force.
If I wish to continue studying at Charles Sturt University following my successful completion of the Associate Degree in Policing Practice, I hereby give permission to the university to access and use my personal information for administrative and admission purposes to properly manage my application and enrolment in my new course.
The UCWE program is offered as the academic prerequisite to join the NSW Police Force. The ADPP program is offered by the University through its School of Policing Studies at the NSW Police Force Academy in Goulburn in collaboration with the NSW Police Force. Due to the partnership between the University and the NSW Police Force, any personal information you provide as part of the application and admissions process for UCWE or ADPP and during your candidature may be shared with the NSW Police Force. The NSW Police Force share a partnership with the Australian Defence Apparel (ADA) which is their uniform provider.
For the purpose of facilitating uniforms for ADPP students your personal information such as your name, student ID and contact details will be shared with the ADA when you accept an offer in the ADPP. The University will not make your personal information available to any other person or organisation outside of the University, NSW Police Force and the ADA for processing or for any other purpose without your consent or unless legally required.
Section 18 (1)(a) of the Act permits the University to disclose the personal information to the NSW Police Force because "the disclosure is directly related to the purpose for which the information was collected and the agency disclosing the information [the University] has no reason to believe that the individual concerned would object to the disclosure". The personal information that is shared includes but is not limited to information provided in relation to:
*the application for admission to UCWE and/or ADPP and any documents required thereto.
*any matters regarding your participation or continuation in UCWE and/or ADPP.
*enrolment in UCWE and/or ADPP including information about fees.
*academic performance in UCWE and/or ADPP including any matters affecting conduct and performance, examination results, progress, completion and exclusion.
*academic or general misconduct.
*the management of your participation in and completion of UCWE and/or ADPP; or
*the competitiveness of your application to the NSW Police Force.
Your personal information will be maintained at the University in accordance with the State records Act NSW. You may access your personal information to satisfy yourself that it is accurate, relevant to the purposes for which it was collected, and that it is not misleading, incomplete, or out of date. You may also ask us to amend any of the information we hold about you or add comments or explanation in relation to the information we hold on you. 6. Complaints and internal reviews
By enrolling at Charles Sturt University, I consent to the University collecting, using, storing, disclosing, and disposing of my personal and health information in accordance with this Privacy Collection Statement.
I understand and accept that personal information provided by me to the University may also be disclosed to a person or organisation external to the University for purposes other than those stated above where such disclosure is required or permitted by law or if I have otherwise provided my express consent.
If you are unhappy with the way we have handled or failed to handle your personal information you may apply to have the matter reviewed by lodging a formal application with the Privacy Officer.
7. Consent
